About the Author
Mireya Urquidi-Koopman, was born and raised in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Her parents and only sister are writers. Mireya is married to Peter E. Koopman since 1950; five children. She is a graduate of The University of Tampa, B.A. degree: the University of North Florida, M.Ed. degree in English: The University of South Florida, Ed.S. degree in Foreign Languages. She has taught the Spanish Language in the public schools and college. In Tampa, Florida she taught poetry as a visiting poet for the “Poetry in the Classroom” program of Hillsborough County Public Schools, while completing her B.A. degree, for three consecutive years. She writes poetry in English, but the feeling is Spanish. She has been influenced by the Spanish poets, Federico Garcia Lorca and Pablo Neruda. Mireya has won several poetic awards and is published in the United States and abroad. Poetry for her is a verbal paradise where everything is possible.
