About the Book

This book is about my family living on St. Helena Island and my life dream, spiritual inspiration and the lives of the Gullah people and their struggles. This book is to show the readers that if you have a dream, you can achieve all of your goals through prayers and remove any obstacle in your way.

About the Author

Nellie Holmes Singer and former dress buyer was born as a Gullah woman on St. Helena Island, South Carolina. During the summer of 1962 after high school graduation, I moved to Brooklyn, NY and began a career as a home salesperson for many months. I was a dress buyer for 25 years in New York City garment center and became a professional singer in 1970.
