About the Book
The Carolina Children..Coastal Zone is intended to give students in South Carolina a glimpse of life in the Murrell’s Inlet area of South Carolina, while Carolina Children..Sandhills focuses on the Columbia area. It is incumbent upon the teacher/or parent to develop the vocabulary and draw similarities and differences with this area and the region of the state in which the student(s) live. The role of human systems is apparent in several ways; in order to identify it, students should have some preinstruction on the process, patterns, and functions of human settlement and the role physical features and environments play in shaping human activities.
