It goes without saying: there will always will
be a widespread appreciation for "the love story."
By nature, human beings yearn for discoveries and
breakthroughs which majestically take them to a deeper,
soothing and enchanting level of consciousness. In a word; romance.
"A Quiet Time," by Attica Lundy is an enchantment of that kind.

The novel presents the world with view of a private love. It´s a story so convincing, so
real, it mesmerizes. What makes Lundy´s book so compelling is that it is an
intriguing retelling of a "never-told," American love story.
"AQT" fundamentally alters the typical love story.
Nowhere is this truth more evident than in the opening pages. The lovers are both women.
Still, AQT is enjoying the greatest reviews and warmest reception
among readers of both genders and all sexual orientations.
"If nothing else, my deepest belief that we all-black/white/heterosexual/homosexual-- all
have the right to peace and love; wherever and however we find it,
and with whomever we find it," commented Attica Lundy.
"Though my characters are lesbians, (even as a partner in a heterosexual relationship) I relate to them."
AQT is a fascinating read because it effortlessly transcends all stereotypes
of the culture with a dynamic story line. Although the leading characters (Jayla Armstrong and
Tanji Jacobs) are lesbians of color, the book synthesizes in a way where readers
from all backgrounds remain fully engaged throughout.
Lundy doesn’t attempt to get her readers to assess or understand the relationship
of two lovers. And the author has made it clear; this provocation is deliberate.
Despite the deviation from the "norm," "A Quiet Time" masterfully demonstrates a
universal significance and comprehension for a love shared.
In two words: incredibly brilliant.
PRELUDE: "A Quiet Time" by Attica Lundy
Unexpected love is the best love there is. It is unpretentious, unchained, and pure. It
sneaks up on you when you least expect and bites you on the earlobe in the sweetest way.
Sometimes, it smacks you upside the head (but it is still a kind gesture).
I´d always been lucky in love. For that matter, I´d always been lucky in life. My
downfalls have never been truly downfalls, as they have always picked me up and carried
me to better things.
The story of my life is not all that unique. I was born, I grew up, and then I lived. I used
to believe that we could choose our own destinies. I suppose one of life´s greatest lessons
bestowed onto me was the insight that life is somehow already planned.
Attica Lundy is a 1991 graduate of Tri-Cities High School in East Point, GA. She resides
