Face it, there are more biracial couples everyday. They are starting families and must not be left out. Going to stylist after stylist can become frustrating and make you want to just give up. So now, just listen and learn. The term “dexim hair” refers to two or more hair types combined, mingled, commixed, or mixed together. It is so important to understand all types. Ethnic hair, Caucasian hair, Oriental hair, Hispanic hair, and Indian hair just to name a few.
About the Author
Karen Lachmansingh was born in Portsmouth, Virginia. She now resides in Chesapeake, Virginia, with her husband, Kim Lachmansingh, and they are the proud parents of three beautiful children, Tenesha, Sharief, Kamal, and one sweet granddaughter, Kennedee. Karen started her career at Hicks Academy in Norfolk, Virginia, under Margaret Hicks in 1986 where she obtained her cosmetology license. Years later, she went back to teach cosmetology and was able to obtain her teachers/instructor license. She has always loved doing hair even as a little girl. Karen now owns a beauty salon called Shear Heaven located in Chesapeake, Virginia. She has been in business for herself since 1994. She first started at home to meet the needs of her children. Then in 2000, Karen expanded to a strip mall. Karen’s salon name speaks volumes about who she is. (Shear Heaven) “Shears” are what she uses to give those precision cuts, and “Heaven” is where she wants to go when she has completed what she feels God has called her to do. Karen and her family also attend Mount Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church in Chesapeake, Virginia. Karen’s goal in writing this book is to help families understand dexim hair and how to care for it.
