Mrs. Gertrude Meeks resides in Norfolk, Virginia. She is married to Martin K. Meeks. She has one daughter, Mrs. Latoya S. Cherry, and son-in-law, Mr. Michael Cherry, and their two sons, Michael Tyreik Cherry and Mekhai Tyree Cherry. Mrs. Meeks has experience in the mental health fi eld as well as the education fi eld. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mental Retardation with certifi cations in mental retardation, learning disabilities, and emotional disturbance. She also holds a Master of Educational Science degree. She is the author of selected poems and creator of the Multi-stimulus Basic Shapes© and the Multi-stimulus Puzzle©. Mrs. Meeks wishes to contiunue writing children’s books and lecturing. She is a strong believer in “It takes a whole village to raise a child.”

Potter, free-lance artist and former ballet dancer was born in Norfolk, Virginia in 1979. He attended several prominent dance institutions including The School of American Ballet, then danced professionally with the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and with the Dance Theatre of Harlem. He has also traveled abroad. Inspired by both parents, Willis and Cynthia M. Potter artists, “Everyone Can Be Positive” is Shomaree’s first book illustration. Cynthia M. Potter, teacher and artist, was born in Baltimore, Maryland in the 50’s. She began drawing in elementary school for teachers. She received a BA in Fine Arts and a MA in Education of the Gifted with emphasis in graphics. Cynthia has met and traveled internationally with several acclaimed educators and artists. She is a mixed media canvas painter. Although this is her first book painting, this is her second collaboration painting with her son Shomaree.
