About the Author
Susan was born October 20, 1954 in Brooklyn, New York to John (Giovanni) and Mary (Maria) Carro, one of 4 daughters. Mary loved to cook and bake and Susan learned much from her mother’s example. Food was a form of love in their household. Susan went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from the State University of New York at Stonybrook in New York. Her career took her to a research position at Harvard Medical School in Boston and she continued her career working in various laboratories in Boston, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Oakhurst, and Fresno, California. She was also involved in Cancer Research at the University of California in Los Angeles. After 26 years in laboratory work she decided to follow her long lost dream and become a Registered Nurse. She again earned a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from The State University of Fresno, California. After working 6 years as a Registered Nurse she was able to complete her graduate studies and received her Master’s degree in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is currently working in a private doctor’s Internal Medicine office in Fresno, California, as a Nurse Practitioner. Through the years she has not lost her love of cooking. Many have asked her to write down her recipes, especially her daughters, who are now grown and on their own. This prompted the creation of this cookbook so that her many cherished recipes and that of her mother’s will be passed on to future generations. Susan is currently living in Coarsegold, California with her husband of 30 years, who is a physician in Oakhurst, California, with a thriving private medical practice of his own. Together they have 3 daughters, one son, and 3 grandchildren.
