About the Author

I was born in Aurora, Ontario, Canada on July 4th, 1922, in my maternal grandparents' home, Rev. and Mrs. A.B. Hames. My parents, Rev. Walter and Stella Madden, always teased me because I had been born on 'the wrong side of the border', since July 4th is such a holiday in the U.S.A. ! It was after the tragic death of my oldest brother, P.O. Willard E. Madden, that I was able to write , Our closely knit family suffered a horrible shock at this time, and sometimes God helps us through these troubled times with such a gift as Poetry. "Morning Song" is especially precious to me, as it was my very first poem which seemed to flow out to me, as if God Himself helped me write it ! It is dedicated to my brother and his friends, and is meant to immortalize them in giving their lives for their countries, their families and their loved ones. My poetry has been published in anthologies in Florida, and it has been on the Internet also. I was an Elementary School Teacher, and I taught Special Education and ESL for adults. I am now retired, and live with my husband Doug in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, near our families. I am happy to say that our daughter, Marilyn Jane Savage, their son Michael J.D. Savage and our only granddaughter, Joy Evelyn Hopper are all poetically gifted. Some day we hope to see their works in print. E.M.T.
