About the Author
Walt’s Biography On March 29, 1934, I was born north of Holland, Michigan, and remained in this general area my whole life. I attended a Catholic grade school and graduated from Holland High School in 1952. In the late 1050’s, I served in the U.S. Army, including a year in Korea. As a young boy, I began trapping with my Dad and brother. This sparked the beginning of my love for hunting and the great outdoors. My life has been blessed with many hours experiencing the wonders of nature. I have hunted game including rabbits, pheasants, geese, woodcock, partridge, turkey, black bear, and deer. In addition to hunting and fishing, I’ve enjoyed adventures to beautiful states like Colorado, Alaska, and Wyoming. The state of Michigan has also provided many opportunities for outdoor pleasures -- the Upper Peninsula is an especially abundant outdoor wonderland. As I reflected upon the many years of traveling and adventures in the woods and waters, I decided to write my outdoor “memories” to share with my grandchildren. It is my hope that you too will take pleasure in reading the stories captured in this book. Enjoy! ---Walt Victor
