About the Book
Dr. Rashid Khan is leading the Corporate Intellectual Assets Management for a Major Oil Company. He served as the Deputy Director of Technology Program of Engineering Services and founded the Intellectual Assets management policies for the company. He also developed the first Intellectual Property policy for King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). Dr. Khan has work experience in upstream, downstream and other diverse areas and served as the Distinguished Lecturer for Society of Petroleum Engineer. Dr. Khan received Texaco’s highest technical award for creativity. Dr. Khan received American Chemical Society Texaco Research Award. Dr. Khan served as a technical advisor to the US White House and was an Adjunct Professor for Vassar College, NY. He has around 30 patent awards, published over 200 journal papers, authored/edited FOUR books, and served in the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). He received his PhD and MS in Energy and Fuels Engineering from Penn State and received an MS in Environmental Engineering from Oregon State. He edited or authored 5 books in the areas of energy, environmental or Intellectual property to business development areas.
About the Author
About the Author Dr. Rashid Khan earned a Ph.D. and an M.S. in Energy and Fuels Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from the Oregon State University. He also earned a degree in Economics and received additional training in Intellectual Properties. Dr. Khan served five years with the U.S. Department of Energy and thirteen years with Texaco, Inc. As a consultant for the Intellectual Assets Management Group of Saudi Aramco, he was instrumental for the development of first the IP policy and commercialization of first series of technologies for the company. In addition, he took assignments with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and served as an adjunct professor at New York’s Vassar College. During his career, Dr. Khan has written and edited three books used in universities and industry, as well as published more than 150 papers. He’s an inventor of thirty patents. As a Society of Petroleum Engineers distinguished lecturer for 2006–2007, Dr. Khan made presentations in India, Thailand, the Philippines, United States, Austria, Italy, Croatia, and Hungry. He has also made presentations at Harvard and MIT. Currently, he is the champion for solar energy for the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) while developing IP policies and research programs for the university.
