About the Author
Marilyn Marchand Moore (b. 02/25/1926), a.k.a. Skip, grew up in Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York, while her father was coach of hockey and soccer at a few miles away at West Point, New York. Marilyn married Capt. James Daniel Moore, (USMA January 1943) in July 1945. Marilyn attended college at N.C. State, Un. Maryland and is a Stetson University alumni, 1987. Colonel and Mrs. Moore had three children: son James D. Moore Jr. who was born in July 1948 and died in July 2003; daughter Lyn, who married Kerry D. Keith, January 1973; and daughter Donna, born in June 1962, married to Michael E. Griswold, 1991. Shortly after her husband’s death in 1990, Marilyn moved to Indian River Colony Club, Melbourne, Florida. She took a correspondence course from the Famous Writers School to write her father’s story. “He was a great man and deserves to be recognized,” she states. Marilyn continues to learn through courses from The Teaching Company.
