About the Book

The author’s story

I came under the tutelage of Chief Patrick Nwakamma Ottih in the 1960’s at the later stages of his life, yet it fell on me to relay his story. My last interaction with him was in 2001, an occasion at which he unveiled his previous works in the African Nationalist Movement with contemporaries such as Abdul Nasser of Egypt, Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana, and Sokou Toure of Guinea.

He also bared his participation in the Southern Cameroon independence struggles through the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroon’s, the Kamerun National Congress, and the Cameroon Peoples’ National Convention.

I witnessed his activities in the Cameroon Republic (1967—1970) on behalf of the Republic of Biafra, during the years of the Biafran Movement/secession struggles and observed his influence in the West Cameroon political arena.

He relocated to Nigeria after the Nigeria-Biafra war and I observed for seven years his activities in the Nigerian political dispensation through the platforms of the Nigerian Peoples Party and later the National Party of Nigeria, and his role in the emancipation and re-integration of the Igbo ethnic population in the new Nigerian society.

I felt honored to be regarded as worthy of the information and obliged to divulge it to the world.

I write with sufficient knowledge of the nationalist’s life.
