About the Author

Clyde H. Queen Sr. was born in Choctaw, Oklahoma, to impoverished parents trying to eke out a living during the Great Depression on a nonproductive farm in Franklin, Oklahoma. He experienced the same social hardships as many other kids from the South and Midwest. When his parents moved to California in quest of a better life, he was not prepared for what he would be faced with as a child. When he found it difficult to assimilate into the strange environment he was encircled with, he dealt with it the best way he could and waited for his opportunity to seek a better life. He found those opportunities in the form of law enforcement and in the military service.
