About the Book

Adventures In Home Birthing is a "how to book" that clears up questions surrounding the issue ofhome natural child birth. It is a glimpse into the life of a family that employs holistic means for delivering babies at home. The author--RahLeeCoh Ishakarah, now 63 years old--tells colorful stories (some abstract, provocative, and juicy) about each ofhis baby's births (the last ofwhich he conceived at the age of fifty) that his wife Akua allowed him to deliver, as a means for revealing the methods they followed to bring forth new life into this world. His scientific and academic approach ensures that a clear record oftheir birthing experiences establishes a road map that other families can follow. As such, he outlines the steps and procedures he and his wife followed to attain successful homebirths: including the knowledge needed--the books to read and experts to consult; the preparation and care ofthe mother--her diet, her fitness, and her mental state; the tools and supplies needed for delivery; the delivery bedroom set up; and most importantly, reliance upon belief in and connection with God for faith, strength and direction. Adventures In Home Birthing is written from the male perspective, the author's proclaimed sensitivity not withstanding; it basically considers the bold undertaking ofhome child birth from a masculine point ofview, revealing the feelings, thoughts and considerations going through the mind ofthe father-to-be, as he braves the awesome task ofprocreating, delivering and caring for his growing family.

About the Author

RahLeeCoh Ishakarah--CEO/TIFHAP, began preparing in the 1970's for birthing the babies he and his wifeAkua are now blessed with using natural means allowed by study, research and experience with Holistic Healing Technology. This journey was made possible by the faith he obtained from his parents (Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Arvella Courts), the spiritual grounding he got from his grandfather's (Rev. M. H. Herron's) evangelical ministry, and the understanding ofreligion he got from Rev. C. L. Franklin and at Detroit's WSU. With the above foundation and knowledge gained from reading the books ofhealth practitioners and physicians like Dick Gregory, Arnold Ehret, Jethro Kloss, and Dr. Robert S. Mendelsohn, including awareness from God's revelation in the back seat of a cab, RahLeeCoh (Doctor Daddy) managed to help his wife Akua to birth the last six oftheir ten children using alternative methods. Such a road to faith based family health care was also made possible by mentality resulting from his life as a Free Lance Artist traveling over the country creating art and seeking God directed solutions for living holistically in modem America. RahLeeCoh and his family live in Jackson, Mississippi, where he is a Certified Holistic Health Consultant, and teaches art in his summer art academy, while writing about the adventures his family encounters as they attend advanced institutions ofPenn State, NYU, Memphis College of Art and Mississippi School of the Arts; the two youngest remain home excelling in the arts, in APAC
