About the Author

Uchenna Nwosu is the founder and Medical Director of Apex Medical Center, Igbo-Ukwu, and currently a tenured Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at East Tennessee State University College of Medicine. Following his secondary school education at Government Secondary School, Afikpo and King’s College, Lagos he left Igbo-Ukwu for USA in 1961 on scholarship to Harvard College, where he earned a Bachelors degree in Biochemistry before proceeding to Boston University School of Medicine for his MD degree. After his Residency and Fellowship training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Pennsylvania Hospital, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Philadelphia he returned to Nigeria in 1977, and taught for four years at University of Ife, (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife, rising to the rank of professor in 1978. He returned to his rural hometown, Igbo-Ukwu with his American wife, Linda, to found the Apex Medical Center in 1981. After nine years on the project they left again for USA. He now spends four months of each year practicing at Apex Medical Center, Igbo-Ukwu, and the rest teaching High Risk Obstetrics at the College of Medicine, East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, Tennessee, USA.
