About the Book

Based largely on the experiences of a World War II fighter ace, A Cockpit in New Guinea portrays the life of Donald McGanley from Staten Island, New York, a young man who longs to become a pilot in the Army Air Corps. But the path to his dream is littered with conflict; at home, in school, and especially within himself. As the 1940s begin, McGanley is consumed with his personal war, unaware that another one lies ahead in the skies over the southwest pacific island of New Guinea. One man, two wars. About the Author

C. M. (Chuck) McGee is a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel and fighter pilot, currently in a second flying career with Delta Air lines. He lives with his wife of 30 years in Knoxville, Tennessee.
