About the Book
I call it freestyle poetry. These are a collection of some of my poems, reflecting true events concerning life, love, spirituality and all of the things that we all go through from time to time. Writing about issues such as heart ache, death, ambition, even domestic violence etc. I found that the more I wrote, and the more people read, it became very therapeutic for me. Confronting serious issues in our lives helps us to overcome them, grow and focus on the things that really matter such as "life, love and all of the above". I have only begun to write. I know you will enjoy reading, thanks.
About the Author
Born on the island of Trinidad, I migrated to New York City at the age of nine. My parents got separated when I was very young so "family" was a word that meant many things to me. My life took drastic turns as I migrated back and forth (in seven year intervals) from my country, to the United States. Upon completion of studies in Business and Accounting, I journeyed back to the US with ambitions of living the "American dream". The hard work and gradual comfort was and still is bitter sweet. The contrast from island to urban life affected me throughout my youth and by the time I became a young man, the various experiences of such, left me inwardly swollen with emotion. I began writing as a way to vent these emotions that were growing inside my spirit. Writing is the only thing that proved to be therapeutic towards these trapped feelings. As I shared my poetry with others, I was greatly encouraged and urged to publish my works. Eventually I yielded to the notion to publish and the result was my first book titled: "Life Love & All of the Above". This personal accomplishment has now further encouraged me to take my writings deeper and farther. My inspiration comes from everywhere. I think it is both challenging and satisfying, to be able to express ones inward interpretations, outwardly and in rhyme. Spiritual coupled with social observation and research of religion, politics, love, economics and music all play a part in my thought process as I write. I am always writing and continually seeking to go deeper into every spiritual, secular, traditional or even socially tabooed topics of our lives. I now believe that writing is an excellent way to heal the spirit, from most of life“s harsh realities and so I write as therapy for myself and others. Thanks for reading.
