"Living the Artist's Life" is an introspective book about how one becomes an artist and taps into that interior creative spirit. The author shares her musings on art-making through this collection of insightful and engaging essays. The reader is given a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the inner workings of a painter. Yvonne invites you to follow her along on her artistic journey to see just what "makes her tick" as an artist. Being an artist is not just what Yvonne does, it is what she is, with every fiber of her being. This book reveals how art is an integral part of this artist's life and a motivating force in everything she does. Through her writings, the reader can feel the passion behind Yvonne's artistry, which also fuels her highly personal response to the beauty she sees in the world.

About the Author

Yvonne Martinez Ward has written short stories, vignettes, poetry, editorial letters, children's stories, newsletter articles and essays, speeches, and press releases. In high school and college she studied creative writing and participated in poetry readings. She published an article on how to start a home-based business in a nationwide newsletter published by The Society of Craft Designers. "Nature's Joy" is the author's first published collection of prose poetry, a book derived from her long-time passion for writing. Yvonne is also an accomplished professional artist (painter) who has extensively exhibited her work in art galleries. In her spare time, Yvonne enjoys reading, singing, dancing, gardening and spending quality time with close friends. She is a strong supporter of the arts (both visual and performance) and is currently an art teacher, drama director and vocalist at an elementary school. Yvonne enjoys spending time in nature where she can set up her easel and do some painting en plein air. Finally, Yvonne is a mother of a son, and lives in Bronx, New York. She is currently working on her second poetry collection and creating art illustrations for two children's books she has authored, both of which will be published in the Fall. Yvonne published a book about her life as an artist entitled: "Living the Artist's Life".
