About the Book

The poems in this collection are divided into five “pamphlets”: Gods, Romance, Fantasy, Humanity, and Animals—the preoccupations of the past decade. The more deeply one listens to these outer voices, Gans seems to be saying, the less one really knows. If knowing consists of a body of knowledge acquired through a life where there is little opportunity offered or taken to listen, the body of what we think we know—let alone understand—becomes minute indeed. Here are poems written below the static radar, meant to be read aloud. Also published by Xlibris: 49 Poems: Where Are You Leading Me Now? (2005)

About the Author

AUTHOR’S BIOGRAPHY Jonathan Gans taught fourth and fifth grade predominantly Hispanic students at Charles R. Hadley public elementary school in Miami, Florida for eleven years before moving to Montana where he and his wife –the jazz and tap artist Katherine Kramer— run their Rancho Picante, breeding and raising Quarter Horses for Reining performance and competitions. At a mile high and 25 miles outside of Bozeman, their mountain location provides a long sought-after retreat for writing and choreography, as well as dancers’, musicians’, and artists’ workshops hosted in the Ranch’s Crazyview Studio.
