About the Book

I have attempted to put into words my memories of my early childlife,my interpretation of the men and women that made their living from farming,my feelings of friendship,the loss of people who meant so much to me,the love I received from my wife,the love I tried to give back to her,and some things that are just fun to think about or experience. We all have memories, some good and some not so good. So that’s the things I tried to put into words. I hope you enjoy those memories. Gene Augustine

About the Author

The oldest son of Mike and Christina Augustine, Gene had six Brothers and one Sister. He attended High School in Lenora,Kansas graduating in 1955.Attended The University of Central Missouri on a football scholarship and was on their Championship Team in 1956,Making Second Team all Conference that year as a running back.He sustained a knee injury his Junior year and after two major surgeries was unable to continue playing.Gene married Belle Carter of Corder,Missouri in 1959 and they celebrated their 50th Wedding anniversity in 2009. Belle passed away in 2010,from complications of Alzheimers and Leukemia.They had three sons Greg,Doug,and Jeff. Gene enjoys golf,Painting(oil landscapes),and working in his Flower Gardens.Gene was a manager and partner in the Brown's Shoe Fit Co chain headquartered in Shenandoah,Iowa with 85 stores in 11 Midwestern States from 1960 until retiring in 1994.
