About the Author
Fred was born in suburban Chicago and raised in a very devout Lutheran family. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1949, and continued his post graduate studies until they were interrupted by the Korean War. Fred served as an officer in the US Air Force during the war, after which he continued his studies in both the U.S. and Europe achieving advanced degrees in philosophy and anthropology. Fred and Josephine, his wife of 53 years have three sons. The youngest was born with severe mental retardation, and the Roses immediately volunteered to advocate for people with disabilities. President Reagan appointed Fred to his Committee on Mental Retardation. Following this appointment the Governor of Florida appointed him to a similar volunteer position in the State of Florida for 15 years. During these years Fred actively studied human consciousness as well as researching the history of the early Christian Church. God Consciousness and the Beginning and Spread of Christianity is the product of those studies.
