About the Book
Everyone’s life is their own story, in which we are the characters involved and God is “The Narrator” in the overall tale of our lives. In my book, “In My Will to Reach the Sky”, it is a collection of poems that I began writing since the age of 18 when I discovered my passion for writing poetry. In 2005, I was spiritually and mentally immature to understand the full aspects of life’s endeavors but not too immature to know and experience the emotions that came from it. With much to say, I disentangled my thoughts through pen and paper for only my eyes to see. Now at age 27, I have learned to welcome the challenges that life offers only to know I’ve grown from it. It began in stages as an adolescent and continued into adulthood. Most of my family does not know this part of me, which is in part why I now share it with family and friends. This book is about failure and pain, but also about love, strength, redemption, and ambition. This is a story like no other, of a broken spirit seeking salvation from himself. Some poems are more painful than others, but in the end, my faith and point of salvation are unsheathed; my purpose has become transparent and I am now aware to the reason of my existence. Prepare yourselves as I take you along the path I took “In My Will to Reach the Sky”.
About the Author
At 27 years old, born and raised in Houston, Texas, I was born with a mind to write. Motivated by the obstacles that life has brought upon me and propelled by the trials of my own failings; I embrace the man I’ve become today. Raised by my parents Thomas and Maria Garcia along with my six other brothers, I am as normal as most at first glance but poetic at heart in second nature. My childhood has shown me that being an artist involves reaching out to others while at the same time isolating myself from the world; only there do my thoughts do collide and form the greater part of my innate potential to become the poet my God created me to be. As a born again Christian, my poetry in response to my life has reflected considerable pain followed by remarkable joy. In the course of this journey, I have accomplished those tasks that society would expect of me but have yet to fulfill that of which I expect of myself. My appreciation for poetry has come from a history of various forms of art as far back as elementary when I began to draw. Furthermore, as I entered into young adolescence and young adulthood I acquired a significant taste for music which would later lead to writing poetry. None of which would be possible without my family, friends, and inspiration of several renowned poets whom helped shape the dream of one day writing my own book.
