About the Book

Owinga is the story of a young Eskimo Girl living in the Arctic. Although she was a happy child living with her parents and brother, she wanted a pet whom she could love and call her own. However her father did not allow this because he stated that dogs could be mean and he was concerned that she would be hurt. In a strange and wonderful turn of fate her wish was granted and her life made complete.

About the Author

George Stankovich has quite an eclectic background. After being employed in the automobile industry he joined the Royal Oak Fire Department subsequently retiring as Captain after thirty-one years. Following his retirement he continued his lifelong hobby of the game of bridge and eventually sailed all over the world directing bridge games aboard various cruise ships. He still currently manages and directs bridge games. He always enjoyed telling stories to his granddaughters, which they repeatedly requested him to do, and which prompted him to write several children's stories on his own in hopes ofperpetuating young people's interest in reading and different cultures.
