About the Book
Four new candidates for positions as Observers in the Metaphysical Time Travel (MTT) Organization arrive at the organizations principal facility. They come under the influence of the primary management team at the facility and begin their training. This novel is about the people involved in the facility and its satellite organizations. As the candidates progress through the learning process their development reflects the paths being carved by their linear choices. These choices are impacted by a mixture of rational and irrational decisions and the resultant interactions with each other and the existing facility staff. Everyone has a past, a present and a future. The facility staff includes, Dr. Anne Cleary, the founder of the MTT organization. Her life is extensively intertwined with the other staff members and the novel allows us to examine some of the key moments in the life of Dr. Cleary and her staff. A crucial time in the future is discovered. It changes everything about how the MTT organization will have to function. It also impacts each of the individuals by forcing them to consider their own mortality. These are mostly good people in a challenging environment. Humor is their salvation in most cases. Anne Cleary has created an organization of caring and committed individuals. This novel lets you meet the key players and a selection of the more individual walk on parts.
About the Author
Richard was born in Dumbartonshire Scotland in 1949. He left School at 15 years old, which was typical for boys in the 1960s. He became an apprentice Telephone Technician with the GPO. Richard played drums in a local group and he has played drums on and off ever since. He dropped out of his first attempt at an Engineering Degree in Paisley and then left home at 18 to drift around Southern England. He settled mostly in the South East and became involved in various Buddhist communities. Richard hitchhiked from England to Israel taking a circuitous route through central and southern Europe to Turkey and then back into Greece. He spent 6 months in a Negev Desert Kibbutz. Richard returned to England in 1971 and rejoined one of the Buddhist communities. He left the community in 1972 just before schisms within the membership caused the community to collapse. Richard then settled in Brighton where he met Rosie his wife. They were married in November 1972. Rosie encouraged Richard to go back to University at Brighton Polytechnic where Graduated in 1977 having achieved a 1st Class Honors Degree in Electronic Engineering. After a short time with ITT Creed as a color television designer he joined the Royal Navy as an Instructor Officer. Richard served a short term commission of 16 years which he spent mostly at HMS Collingwood and the Royal Naval Engineering College. Their Son was born in 1982 while the family was living in Stubbington, Hampshire, England. The family eventually moved to Devon, England. Richard developed a specialization in Linear and Digital Signal Processing with emphasis on its application to the control of Electrical Power Systems. He also achieved his Master’s Degree at the Naval College. Richard and the family emigrated to Canada in 1994 shortly after he left the Royal Navy. They settled firstly in Calgary where he taught at a variety of engineering institutes. Richard eventually took a position at the Provincial ISO where he specialized in the Maintenance of the Bulk Electric System Models for the analysis of the Alberta and Western Electric Systems. The family moved to Vancouver Island in fits and starts between 2006 and 2010 where he started his own business as a consultant. Richard and Rosie have settled in Nanaimo while their son who is in the Royal Canadian Navy as a MARS officer, lives relatively close to them in Victoria. Richard has jointly published a text book on electrical Engineering and a variety of technical training and research documents. MTT is his first attempt at writing a novel. Richard is planning to retire from engineering practice in August of 2014.
