About the Book

In 1993, while writing a poem for a young lady on a computer at the Student Employment Office at Laney College, the director picked up my poem and checked it out and said, “You have to get this published.” So here I am some twenty years later, giving my experiences of pain, hurt, and love through this book, The Selective Works of Emaild J. Henry. I hope you enjoy this gift God has given me, which I give to you.

About the Author

Emaild J. Henry is a new African-American poet and writer. Born in Oakland, California, who began writing creative stories in elementary school for spelling words, with an elaborate imagination, Emaild found the task easy. As Emaild grew, the motivation came through shyness; Emaild could hold a conversation with anyone, except that when it came to girls that he was infatuated with, Emaild was very shy. While attending El Cerrito High School, Emaild found a way to solve his problems through writing love letters. Emaild would have his friend, Laurence, write and sign the notes to his someone he secretly admires.
