About the Book

Black Reality is a detailed novel about the life of someone of the black ethnicity. People hear the rumors, but they do not understand the simple struggles we go through. The book not only gives detailed information but helps blacks see past the stereotypes and know the history of our people. We are defined by our struggles and our accomplishments. In this book, the shared method toward success and harmony is shared. Black individuals must define our culture and also build on it. Black Reality shows the truth behind the hidden racism in America. The black community will only gain equality with knowledge. Even today, the racism is just as strong. When the lives of black Americans are threatened verbally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually, this situation should not be taken lightly.

About the Author

My name is Darrell Montel Smith. I was born May 11, 1995. I have been born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina. My parents are Tamika Foster and Darrell Smith. Growing up as a young black male is never easy. There were times I wondered, if I had the choice, would I choose to be black? I would choose to be black over and over again with not a single regret. My challenges in life gave me knowledge of the cruel world that many can’t see with a naked eye. My perspectives kept me from being just another statistic on the street. Writing is a hobby of mine, but what truly defines me is being an idealist. Growing up in South Carolina showed me the true form of white privilege. My only dream is to make all things equal and fair. Black Reality was not something that I felt comfortable writing about. My mind-set was on fiction novels. I was interested in the mythology and science fiction genre. As I began to slowly notice extreme racism and struggle for blacks over the years, I plotted my notes down as a journal. Then that journal evolved into a book. I do not only want to aware the black community but help improve it as well.
