One of my favourite poems I've written is about my beloved cat, Allie, who was my first pet when I was in my forties and living in the first home I've owned. The first of these poems I just called, "Allie". A second poem about her is "Allie 11". There is a third poem, "Her Final Sleep". Her coliur was honey and white, and she was the most beautiful kitten I'd ever seen. Her name came about when I asked at the pet shop, what her pedigree was. They could only tell me she is a short-hair, mixed breed and may have some wild cat in her, and is something like an alley cat mix. Hence the name, Allie. Here is "Allie 11" What a funny little thing, The way you play and sleep and swing your tail, Ears up, what's that? Race to the door - who's there? Look, look there's someone here, Come, quick, or they might disappear. Written 1999.

About the Book
The contents of this book describe a variety of emotions, and they include poems, songs, and notes for a play. These are about people, ideas, animals, social observations, Diane’s college experience, some Christian/religious thoughts and beliefs, and some of her personal experiences. Here is one of Diane’s poems from inside this book: Cold Snow She placed her hands on the cold, cold snow, As if to feel the beat of her child’s heart That beat no more but lay beneath The cold, cold snow. About the Author
As a poet, song writer, and writer of plays, as well as being an actress, a dancer, an ice skater, and performer, Diane Solomon Walter is a unique voice in her approach to writing. Diane was dux of Dulwich Hill Girl’s Home Science School then studied shorthand, typing, and business skills. She ice skated professionally in Australia and also worked as a stenographer and secretary. She also competed in amateur ballroom, Latin American, and Old Time dancing. She has travelled widely, especially since her divorce from her German husband when she lived in Germany for five years, worked there, and learnt their language. She has recently completed two diplomas in community services and case management and worked for twenty-one years with multidisabled deaf and blind children. She has had poems published due to participation in competitions, some of which are now in the Library of Congress. Diane is a dedicated Christian whose current ministries include teaching English as a second language at Oakhurst Anglican Church where, for many years, she played the electronic piano at services and weddings and lead the music team.
