About the Book

Luukas Goethrie is a Finnish migrant worker who is contracted by a carpenter with his live-in employer in Wangaratta, Victoria. He is good-looking and has lovely features. On Christmas Eve, he asks himself in the mirror on where he can find a good woman to love. Christmas Day arrives, and Luukas falls over and is literally picked up by the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. She leaves him abruptly without even remembering his name, and Luukas wonders if he will ever see her again. Kristy has motor-neurone disease and is slowly dying. Luukas is unaware, and while they start to form a relationship, Kristy can’t keep her secret from her heart and is confused about whether or not she should be feeling what she does. Will their love blossom even though Kristy has a terminal illness? What will Luukas do if he finds out her secret?
