About the Book

Dear Friends, My name is James. I have a disability, but I am here to tell you my story that my disability gave me the push and courage to be what I wanted to be. This is a story of love, hope, perseverance, and acceptance. I am a nine-year-old boy who was born with a disability that hinders me to walk and run like other children. The story portrays my willpower and fortitude to overcome the obstacle to be able to run. Follow me on my journey from Mexico to United States to my adopted family and the dream to be a part of a running team at the new school.

About the Author

Angelina Charles The author, Angelina Charles, is a writer and poet. She is an author who wrote James’ Courageous Act and is continuing with the series on James’ journey, “ Born to Run.” She is currently working with the New York City Department of Education as an Assistant Director. She has dedicated her life to helping all children with different needs and issues to meet their full potential. Look out for her next book on James surprise visit to his grandma in Mexico. Elyse Lemonda Elyse Lemonda is co-author for the new book, “Born to Run.” She dedicates her life to children with different disabilities. She is a Special Education Program Instructional Specialist for New York City Department of Education who helps place children in different programs throughout the Borough of Brooklyn. Elyse has a hearing impairment which enables her to have an understanding of the different struggles that students go through while learning in school.
