About the Book

Set in the challenging and occasionally brutal environment of rural law enforcement, three teams of investigators attempt to sort out what seems to be a series of related murders. With too many suspects and absolutely no evidence, they seem destined to struggle with long days, too few resources, and a confusing set of questions regarding jurisdiction. The suspenseful conclusion leaves you to question your own values.

About the Author

Rick Matkin is a retired child and family therapist. For over thirty years, he served clients subjected to a harsher life style than most. His work with families through state agencies, private practice, and as a contracted consultant in Europe, allowed for a thorough exposure to the many complicated issues of emotionally disturbed young children and adolescents. Mr. Matkin partially funded his graduate study by serving as a part time special deputy with a rural sheriff’s department. Although he found this experience fascinating, after eleven years in corrections and several years in related field services, he decided to dedicate the remainder of his career to working with children and families with a vast assortment of special issues.
