Arsonist Interconnecting pathways in my city of sadness Direct routes from memories to madness Dark alleyways of my mind where your fingers graze my skin Where it all begins Your pupils dilate and you violate All I can see are rain clouds engulfing the sky I don’t understand why A child lost in the pouring rain Never to be the same Their youth burst into flames The arsonist walks away smiling no care While I take years to rebuild and repair Flowers sprout in between cracks in cement Tree roots follow brick lines, twisted and bent They endure and persist Fighting just to exist Against the odds they find some light Hope to avoid crushing footsteps once more Memory monsters repeatedly knocking at the door Making their presence known I’m tired and trigger prone But the self-blame has flown away The self doubt has gone astray It wasn’t my fault in this memory or on any other day

About the Book
This book revolves around trauma (specifically childhood trauma) and its impact on health, well-being, and self-esteem. It goes in depth about the emotions brought up as a result of trauma and the journey of recovering from the trauma through poetry.
About the Author
At 10: The start of traumatic experiences, repression, depression and disordered eating patterns. At 17: Memories came flooding back. I became physically ill and also developed symptoms of a mood disorder. At 18: I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue syndrome. At 21: I moved out, away from family. At 22: I was diagnosed as having Borderline Personality Disorder and began treatment for this.
