About the Author
Kent Thomas is a survivor. He was a successful physical therapist for 27 years living in Phoenix, Arizona until after suffering life threatening injuries from severe burns and head trauma , he participated in what is called pain management in this country. For over ten years he was under medical supervision of several doctors that managed his pain exclusively with pharmaceuticals. He was on a high dose of both opioids and benzodiazepines during that decade and had a stroke, underwent several surgeries and was rendered bed bound for 3 and 1/2 years due to the effects of both the injuries and the deleterious medical supervision that he was given by trusted authorities. He developed a debilitating disease called lymphedema and his body swelled, making even minimal physical activity nearly impossible. His weight grew to almost 400 lbs. He became lost in the darkness that surrounded him, made worse by the people he trusted that became his tormentors and exploited him. On a morning of sever darkness he became aware of a presence of an essence of light that was a spiritual awareness telling him there was another way. That life consciousness was the SPIRIT of Paramahansa Yogananda. It was at that moment his life began to change. After three years of strenuous effort with skilled physical and occupational therapist, losing 150 pounds and getting off of the medications with the help of God and Guru, he is now a thriving member of the community and is has become an artist, poet, singer/songwriter and a devotee of Paramahansa Yogananda.
