The “Gawdgara Dhana In The Bulnjarany Dandula” book is adapted and translated in Birri Language (spoken Eastern Central Queensland, Australia) from the Australian nursery rhyme and classic children’s song “Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree”. The story of the Kookaburra’s life as king of the bush who laughs, eats worms and counts lizards when he mistakenly counts a girl as a lizard. The book is colourfully illustrated by the Author.


About the Author

The Author, Jill Dodd is one of six children born and raised in Rockhampton by her maternal grandparents Kate and Reg Dodd Snr in an extended family of aunty, uncles, cousins and siblings. Jill is descended from the Birri (Collinsville area), Wirri (Urannah area) and Kaanju (Cape York) peoples of Central and North Queensland, Australia. Jill has over thirty years public sector experience mainly with Housing. This is the fourth book written and illustrated by Jill.
