The Dog and the Log

Emma poked her long doggy nose into the log and smelled something unknown in its depths. Pushing her nose in a little further, the smell grew stronger. It was such an interesting smell that Emma just had to go in a little bit deeper. Now the smell was so strong that she knew she was about to touch whatever was making that smell with her wet doggy nose and so she pushed it in all the way... Illustration: EMMA5 Ouch! She suddenly felt something prick her nose. It was something very sharp and then she realised it was a hedgehog making that smell. The hedgehog was afraid of dogs and had rolled up into a tight ball of prickles. Emma would have liked to play with the hedgehog if it hadn’t been so far into that log and if it hadn’t been rolled up into such a prickly ball.
