Preview 1: Down below there were no busy cars or happy passersby. No. Not today. Today, it was raining. The huge droplets of rain banged against windows and doors and then settled into great pools of water on the earth. Preview two: Then, suddenly across the corner of the room, she saw a shadow. She couldn’t see clearly. Perhaps it was the broom. Nicole leapt from the chair and silently crept to the spot. The sound she heard was strange… but in an instance, it stopped. Nicole paused. She looked behind her. She wanted to yell for her Mama, but Mama was asleep upstairs and she wouldn’t hear her. “Cracckla- le-crack-crack,” there goes the sound again. She stopped. She listened. Preview three: “I know what I’ll do,” she smiled as her imagination ran wild. “I’ll read a book! I’ll be a pirate or a giraffe! I could even sing and dance around the hall!” “Go on. I’m listening,” Teddy Blu responded.

About the Book
Nicole's Rainy Day Adventure is inspired by the Covid-19 ordeals when families were forced to stay indoors. Many parents struggled to keep children engaged and optimistic. Children longed to play outdoors and to meet up with friends. Some got depressed, others threw tantrums and many relied on technology for entertainment. This children’s book brings awareness of the natural world, encourages appreciation and optimism and teaches the importance of controlling emotions. Most importantly, it adds an air of positivity by reminding families of the many ways they could enjoy time together at home.
About the Author
Khadine Robinson-Clarke is a Jamaican born and educated teacher of English who now resides and teaches in the UK. Children’s literature has always been one of her passions. For her, it welcomed vibrant imaginations, taught valid life lessons and set foundations for an idealised society. These all acted as catalysts for her debut book “Nicole’s Rainy Day Adventure” which is inspired by the ordeals of being forced to stay indoors during Covid-19 and parents’ struggles to keep children occupied at home.
