Persian Etymology shows the complex derivation of words in simple graphs like org charts. The charts also show the original meanings of words that help us understand the background of some of our present social trends and attitudes. For example, the earlier meanings of words for family members in Indo-European languages indicate that father was “protector” of the family, mother was “feeder” of the family and daughter was “milker” of the family. The charts in this book show derivation of over 9400 Persian and other Iranian words along with 5800 cognates in Indo-European and 1400 cognates in Arabic, Hebrew, Turkish and other languages outside the Indo-European group. Word derivations are documented by citing the references. Also, old poems are cited to show the use of original meanings of some words.
