Introduction
"The Mind of an Immigrant" was born from the day I was born. Everyone has a calling in life but we tend to run away from it. Have you noticed how you like to focus on your weaknesses? Have you noticed that we tend to force ourselves to improve something we do not like? Most of us tend to do that, for 'so-called improvement in all aspects. ‘But what if we focus on what we like? What if we focus on the desire to be the best? What if we focus in that something which we would like to spend the day and night working? The idea of this book, not only was born to help you find your purpose in life, but also to give you the tools to carry out the calling that there is hidden within you.
FIRST RECOMMENDATION
Worrying is a waste of time!
THE BIGGEST TROUBLES IN YOUR LIFE, ARE THOSE THINGS THAT NEVER CROSS YOUR WORRIED MIND. THOSE THINGS THAT BLINDSIDE YOU IN SOME IDOL TUESDAY. (Baz Luhrman)
There are moments that blind you and a new being in you rises. There are moments that define you as a person. There are moments in life you never imagined you'd have to live. There are moments you will never forget and you‘ll know things will never be the same. There are moments that come to you the day you least expect, and that day you realize that you have no control. There are those kinds of moments that we all had in life. I guess, maybe you've had one of those, but if it has not happened, I hope you take this with you.
Worrying is a total waste of your time. Leave aside your concerns, they will not let you act in an effective manner, you might push away the people you love most, limit your possibilities, and / or simply leave you with no self-expression. Keep in mind that trying to control things or people is an illusion, all you can control is if you give it your best or not. The biggest concerns in your life come when you least expect it, and demand the best of you….
SECOND RECOMMENDATION
REFLECTIONS OF THE PAST.
EVERYTHING HAS A REASON!
Let's talk about your past!
I am an immigrant like most of us here in the US and in the world. My name is Giovanni Gonzalez, born in Bogotá, Colombia, July 24, 1980. I'm about to meet my thirty years and thanks to God and my grandmother, I have lived a life full of passion and love for others. I will tell you a little about my childhood and I hope that maybe you can relate it with yours. The best thing for me would be to be able to inspire you to look back to those childhood days, and look for all those hidden blessings with each passing day as a kid. I know I've been lucky. I also know that for many is easy to look back and think, "until now I see no blessing in my past." I can assure you wholeheartedly that the sun, rain, wind, winter and spring, come and shelter all the lucky and the unlucky ones. None of us are excluded from its benefits and its rigors. All of us, however, interpret differently the same phenomena, and the reality of our life turns out according to those interpretations….
TENTH RECOMMENDATION
VISION
Vision is seeing what others can not see. The Bible says "without vision the people perish."
The Prime Minister of France once said: "If you're doing great things, you will attract great minds. If you're doing small things, small minds will be attracted. Small minds usually cause problems. "Then he paused and said with some sadness," we are in big trouble”
Your vision will be changing with time, more than likely improving and more impactful, but to advance, you have to start with one. You need a light at the end of the road, a purpose for your life. Something like; the day you die; how would you want to be remembered? By having a vision, a clear idea of what you want to accomplish, difficult days are to be seen as a stumbling block and not the tragedy that ended your life. Your vision is what will keep you out of a depression. Enables you to live your life with purpose and allow you to pursue the path towards a specific goal, no matter how far you are, you will grow and adjust like never before you would imagine.
To close our conversation we must talk about a fundamental element for success in your life and achieve your dreams. We have already touched it on the surface but it is important to emphasize and underline again and again its importance. You know that circumstances can be seen as opportunities for growth or as a reason to stop. You know the decision-making tools that will change your life inside and out. Your vision is more than a dream. Your vision is looking at the future and have it as if it already happen that way you can live it as you intended.
The process is everything. In whom you become during the process is what makes the difference….
