About the Book

No matter who we are, or where we are at in life, we have all had to deal with negative emotions, at some point or another. Whether we struggle with managing our own emotions, or whether we are around others who struggle to manage theirs, everybody has felt their effects. Children are no exception. This truth is what makes Three Sneaky Emotions, One Powerful You a book that is consistently relevant. Three Sneaky Emotions, One Powerful You is a book designed to help children learn about the true nature of the three distinct, negative emotions of anger, depression, and fear, and how they can overcome them in a positive and effective way.

While this book deals with the topic of emotions, it also deals with the topic of faith. Children are encouraged and taught the importance of knowing God’s love for them, so they can have the confidence in knowing that He will help them in the process of gaining victory in the area of their emotions. This book could be referred to as a practical “instruction book” for children that simply teaches them how to apply basic spiritual principles to their every day situations in order to help them gain victory over emotional obstacles. The example that this book illustrates, of the practical application of faith to everyday circumstances, is also intended to help prepare children, as they grow older, to gain victory in other areas of their lives, as well. As this book’s purpose and intent is received and lived out, that, inevitably, also encourages children’s potential growth in their social development by producing a healthy foundation on which to build better relationships with others.

This book simply focuses on, and lays out the most basic elements children need to know about negative emotions and about faith in the Word of God in order to be successful in overcoming anger, depression, and fear. Then, it illustrates for them, the “game plan” of how winning, or in this case, overcoming, is accomplished. Obviously, when coupled with further teaching, by the parent or guardian, of simple Scripture verses that your child can memorize, this book can be even that much more effective for your child.

About the Author

Over the past fourteen years, Gina Dahl has worked with children and adults of all ages in a variety of ministry opportunities. She has taught in professional childcare facilities, worked in in-home childcare positions, she has provided care with home health services, and has volunteered in children’s ministries with several churches. Gina also studied art at Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri. Her passion for ministry, a wide variety of interests, and the enjoyment she has of learning, has helped point her toward venturing out on the mission of writing a children’s book that combines the many things that she enjoys.

Gina has had the opportunity to learn about several different church denominations and their doctrinal backgrounds through life experience. She did not grow up in a particular church of a single denomination, but rather progressively attended different denominations as she grew throughout her spiritual life. The understanding she gained from her experience, combined with personal spiritual growth, helped guide her in her decision to adopt a non-denominational view. Gina is a Bible believing follower of Christ, who embraces solid biblical teaching and has been encouraged by a select number of mentors and friends who are loyal to their faith in Jesus Christ.

Gina has always enjoyed learning by practical teaching and spiritual principles. Since this is the case, she also enjoys teaching in the same manner. It is motivating to her to see growth, development, and progress in others, as well as in herself, especially when it comes to the learning that encourages, and results in, a whole, positive, and healthy well-being. Also, believing that everyone is an individual, Gina enjoys diversity and the uniqueness of people, and is enthusiastic when seeing how people, despite their differences can work together. Many of these interests show through the book she has written, and Gina is hopeful that Three Sneaky Emotions, One Powerful You will be the encouragement it was meant to be in the lives of everyone who reads it. It is her prayer that each one will know and receive, learn from, and grow in, and gain the victory that only comes from the grace and love that God offers them afresh every day, regardless of where they might be in life, or the “sneaky emotions” they might face.
