 The Duke knew what he was talking about ‒ sitting around is one of life’s real pleasures.

The subjects of these photos, snapped at leisure in various parts of the world, are proof that despite the best efforts of technology, time management, deadlines and the pace of life generally, the ancient and noble art of sitting around is alive and well.

Apart from identifying their locations, I have left it up to you to imagine the backgrounds: the excitement, the pathos, the drama, the ennui ‒ even the wonder ‒ of each scene.

So sit back and relax. After all, that’s what this book is all about!

About the Author

John Davies is an avid amateur photographer and an extensive traveller. He is based in Sydney, but can mostly be found sitting on a plane or in an airline lounge waiting for his next flight. This book is the first in a series which documents his observations of people around the world mostly doing ordinary everyday things.
