Dementia will soon be the major cause of disability and death, outstripping cancer, heart disease and stroke; imposing a massive burden on families, health systems and economies worldwide. The book aims to prepare people for dementia. It clearly explains what you might expect and what you can do. Early diagnosis provides many benefits: symptoms, like memory loss may not be dementia but may be normal or treatable; interventions can delay onset or slow progress and new medications are just around the corner; early diagnosis protects their rights and allows them a say in their care before it is too late.

About the Author

Dr Colquhoun, researcher and Clinical Health Psychologist, developed the Mindcheck Wellness Centres and on-line testing to provide diagnosis and treatment planning for people with dementia and to support their families. As well as having personal and professional exposure to people with dementia he has a deep commitment to improving the quality of life and well-being of those afflicted with the disease and to ensure they get timely and compassionate treatment and care. He has completed Post Graduate Degrees in Neuroscience, Psychology, Counselling and Psychotherapy and Health Science and presented at International Conferences and published in peer reviewed scientific journals.
