About the Book

This book relates to us the experiences of a child under Hitler's dictatorship. It describes the author's activities in the military service and his attempts to survive in a land shattered by war. Of interest for parents, this biography also shows – in practice – how their child’s future can be programmed into success or failure. By taking us directly into the innermost minds of children it illustrates the long-term effects of the adults' words and attitudes. It also implies that, in spite of setbacks and rejections, a sense of persistence and optimism will lead to a meaningful and rewarding life

About the Author

Born in 1925, Peter Schmedding grew up in an intellectually impoverished childhood in Nazi Germany. He experienced the ravages and aftermath of World War 2 and after the war some time as a POW. His futile attempts to establish a useful life lead him to migrate to Australia in 1954. Here he was employed by the ABC for 25 years and after early retirement in 1980 devoted himself for another 25 years to the enrichment of children. Now in his advancing years he spends most of his time writing from the vast repertoire of his life experiences.
