About the Book

It is long after dark when they arrive at the homestead. Martin knocks frantically on the front door. Almost immediately, the door opens. There stands Martin with his clothes, still drenched in blood. The farmer and his wife stand before him shocked. The woman screams when she sees the blood. Deep grooves are engraved on Martin’s pale face, from grief and suffering. ‘Sir, please can you help me? My baby fell off the wagon, and the iron wheels have crushed him. My wife faints continually, and I haven’t got anywhere else to go,’ Martin pleads with the farmer.

About the Author

Pieter KL Pretorius, youngest son of Jan and Elling Pretorius, was born in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa, in a town called Kokstad in the year 1948. Pieter has one elder brother, Tienie, and two younger sisters, Maryna and Massie. Their father (Doppies) being a train conductor was transferred all over the country. He even spent time in South-West Africa, now Namibia. Pieter, a printer by trade since 1966, now resides in Louis Trichardt – South Africa, where he and his family run the family printing and stationery business. Pieter continually asked his father Jan to put all his short stories of his life together in a book. This however never came to pass. So after the passing of his father, Pieter took it upon himself to gather all the information and write A New Day Dawns.
