About the Book

Tourist: I understand you live here in this Bazaar? Ramiz: Yes I do. Tourist: How many entrances to The Bazaar? Ramiz: One. Tourist: How many exists? Ramiz: One. Tourist: Are they the same? Ramiz: No. Tourist: Is there an opening and closing time? Ramiz: Each visitor has his own opening and closing time. Tourist: What are mine? Ramiz: I do not know? Tourist: Whom can I ask? Ramiz: I do not know anybody who knows. Tourist: You do not seem to know much about the Bazaar? Ramiz: Does anybody know much about anything? Tourist: I know a lot about the place where I live. Ramiz: Satisfaction is always good. Tourist: You mean I am deluding myself? Ramiz: Are you? Tourist: No I am not Ramiz: I am happy for you. Tourist: Do many tourists come here? Ramiz: I know no one who is not a tourist. Tourist: How about those who sell things here? Ramiz: I know no one who does not sell something. Tourist: I do not understand; how can everybody in the Bazaar be a tourist and at the same time everybody in the Bazaar is selling something? Ramiz: I agree the Bazaar is difficult to understand. Tourist: You live here surely you must understand? Ramiz: Every time I think I do; I quickly find out I don’t. Tourist: Is the Bazaar that big? Ramiz: I have not yet been to all its parts; so I do not know? Tourist: How long have you lived here? Ramiz: All my life. Tourist: How old are you? Ramiz: From my prospective as old as the Bazaar; from your prospective as old as this conversation lasts. Tourist: I come from a place where we know time; we know size; we have allocated tasks; we have responsibilities; you on the other hand claim that in the Bazaar all this is meaningless? Ramiz: I have made no such claim. Tourist: You do not think that knowing your age; knowing the opening and closing time of the Bazaar; knowing who does what in the Bazaar; knowing the size of the Bazaar are important matters so that someone like you who lives in the Bazaar should know? Ramiz: If they are important matters to you then you should of course know them. Tourist: So your point is that they are not important to you and therefore you do not know them? Ramiz: You asked me what I know and I told you; it seems to me that you are frustrated with the limit of my knowledge; although I think that is to your benefit. Tourist: Why is that? Ramiz: The Bazaar is something you experience not something you learn about from others. Walk in and reach your own conclusions.
