About the Book
This contemporary adult fiction explores modern vs.
traditional values, difficulty in relationships, and
infertility. The culture clash is between Esther Fisher
who is brought up in the male dominated Amish community in
Lancaster County, PA, and Craig Swanson of the permissive
Main Line of suburban Philadelphia. We see Esther from the
time of her birth when Craig is eight, their growing up,
her flight to the "English" world and being shunned for it.
Esther meets Craig, who has fled to Lancaster, PA, from
involvements with various women including a notorious
madam. They marry, clash, and, with difficulty, their
differences are resolved.
