About the Book

Charlie Bergdorf is a man in his late thirties who lives in a suburb of Los Angeles.  Hes a specialist in providing consulting services to real estate developers throughout the country.  His partner, Dave Wilson, receives a cold call from General Alexander Struggles, a recently retired army general who lives in Atlanta, and who wants to discuss retaining Charlie and Daves firm to work for him on his brothers new multi-million dollar real estate project called Tara City.  Charlie hates to travel, because he dislikes leaving his beautiful wife of eleven years, Lenore, and their nine-year-old daughter Cindy.  Charlie flies to Atlanta, and happens to fin himself seated next to a young professional basketball player named Jumbo McKinley.

After arriving in Atlanta, Charlie meets with General Struggles at his home, makes a good first impression, and is invited back the following night to meet the Generals business partners.  Charlie cinches the consulting engagement, flies back to Los Angeles, and subsequently is arrested for the grisly shotgun slaying of Jumbo McKinley.

Overwhelmed and unable to cope with the situation after being told by the police that they have developed a solid motive for the murder and have a murder weapon that was found in his office with his fingerprints on it, Charlie scrambles for legal counsel and somehow gets the attention of Christina Maxwell, one of the most colorful and successful criminal lawyers in the country.  

Once on board, Christina and her partner Allegra, uncover a complex conspiracy involving gambling, sex, politics and organized crime.

As several interesting, humorous, and often deadly character surface during their investigation, Christina and Allegra quickly discover a lurid scandal about one of Atlantas most powerful and influential families which, hopefully, will provide the solution to Charlies crisis.

This is the first suspense novel written by these authors who have both been consultants to many of the most famous entrepreneurs in the United States.
