About the Author
For the past sixteen years, Don Tomlinson has been a college professor. For fifteen of those years, he was Professor of Journalism at Texas A&M University, where he taught media law. For the past several years, he additionally has been Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Houston Law Center, where he teaches entertainment law. In academic year 2000-2001, he is Professor of Recording Industry at Middle Tennessee State University, near Nashville, where he teaches copyright law, music publishing law, and recording industry legal problems. He holds an LL.M. in intellectual property from UHLC in addition to a J.D. from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, a master’s in journalism from the University of North Texas, and a bachelor’s in journalism from Arkansas State University. In the thirty years since he graduated from college, he has been a television reporter and anchor, a wire service reporter, involved in political campaigns as campaign manager from local judicial elections to Attorney General and Congress, a deputy attorney general, a media and entertainment lawyer, and, as indicated, a college professor. For the past ten years, he has been a professional mediator, having mediated more than 300 lawsuits. He also is an arbitrator. On the lighter (but still serious) side, he is a singer, songwriter, and musician — and he is a photographer. While Oedipus Tex is his first novel, he has published many law review articles in such journals as the Stanford Law & Policy Review, Hastings COMM/ENT, and the Federal Communications Law Journal. He is hard at work on the sequel to Oedipus Tex, and he is writing a science-fiction novel about interspecies communication between humans and marine mammals. He is a native of Little Rock. He and his wife, Beverly, have been married seventeen years. He has a stepson, Glen David Miller, who is a computer animator and digital artist in Hollywood.
