About the Book

Indice, the coastal city that harbors traders and merchants, hardly notices the arrival of a young inventor from the prairies.  Tyman, a child genius from inland, has come to Indice for one purpose and one purpose only – to scale the golden wall.

The huge wall is mysterious and enormous beyond description, extending from one horizon to the other, as far as anyone has ever traveled.  The wall is shrouded in legend, and no one is sure how it came to be.  Villagers over the years have tried in vain to tunnel under it, crack it with their crude tools, and climb over it.  All have failed.  Its golden brilliance stretches high up into the sky, so high in fact that those standing in Indice’s main town square cannot even see its top.  No one has ever ventured to the other side, and no one knows what, or who, lies beyond it.

Using his gifted abilities as an inventor, scientist and mathematician, Tyman quickly finds employment at a wagon shop and begins plans to build the ultimate vehicle to scale the mysterious wall.  He meets and befriends Zagsun, a burly sailor on the Indice docks.  Tyman also pursues a young waitress at a nearby tavern, and quickly discovers that her life is filled with complications of her own.

Set in a fictional world with medieval-like qualities, Horizons would best be classified as a science fiction or adventure novel, although it is hard to pinpoint exactly.  There are elements of drama, humor, mystery and action, as this is the story of one man’s struggle to achieve what no one has ever done – to lift himself higher and further than anyone.

Horizons is the second book in a series of three adventure novels.  Horizions is the second, or middle book, although it was written first.  The prequel will be penned next, followed by the third book, which will tie in the previous two novels and close out the series.
