About the Book

January 1, l964, one minute past midnight, Toni Peeka cradles her stuffed dog desperately to her breast.  Her tears fall silently onto his well worn fur.  It's been four years, four long, lonely years, since Toni left Healie, PA, her parents, her best friend Marie and Jake.  As she whispered his mane, Toni's sobs caught in her throat.  The bitter scene they shared on their last night together replays in her mind.

Four years earlier, at the tender age of 20, Toni Peeka was on the top of the world.  She was desperately in love with Jake Jarred.   Jake, six feet tall, with wavy black hair and jade green eyes and a rakish dimple that deepened with each brilliant smile, was also in love with Toni, tiny trim with long lustrous black hair, complimented by eyes the color of midnight blue.

As Toni sipped at her glass of white wine, she quietly toasted Jake and the New Year.  It was then and there, she vowed never to spend another New Year's Eve alone.  She would move back to Healie and confront Jake as to the reason he had suddenly lashed out at her causing her to flee to New York.

Arriving back in her home town, Toni runs into Jake in a nearby diner.  Summoning all her courage, she demands that she and Jake sort out their feelings.  As their eyes met and held, it was as if the last intervening four years had never happened.  Quickly the couple douse the fires that consumed them.  All was explained and forgiven, as their love soars to new heights.

Unbeknownst to the reunited couple, Toni becomes a pawn in a sick plot of revenge against Jake by Roland Nash.

Once again Toni is ripped from Jake's life when Roland Nash kidnaps her.  Jake must move heaven and earth to find her before it's too late.

To lose Toni once again after all these years, just as he was beginning to hope and love again, just about puts Jake over the edge.  To make matters worse, he learns of a dark secret that could tarnish his memory of his beloved father.  Will Jake ever be free of his torment?  Will his broken heart ever mend?  Is this little slip of a woman, Toni Peeka the one to conquer his heart and prove above all else,---love, can conquer all?

About the Author

I am a first time author, but live between the pages of all types of romance genre. Now that my children are grown and starting families of their own, I find I have the time to devote to my one true passion, romance writing. I have written poetry for family and friends over the years, and have been fortunate enough to have a poem entitled, "The Golden Years", published by the National Library of Poetry, 1999.
