About the Book

Set in Napoleonic France, Les Cabales  (The Intrigue) tells of two lovers unknowingly caught in a plot to kill the Emperor of France. Claudia LaFontaine is in an arranged and loveless marriage to Louis DuBois. DuBois wants  two things: Claudia's inheritance and to see Napoleon dead. DuBois and his two nephews are involved in a plot to assassinate Napoleon. Their groups leader is an unknown and unseen man with the necessary connections and money to see their plot through. Alexander Gaston is a bitter enemy of Louis DuBois, confidante to Napoleon, and protector and lover to Claudia. Though innocent, Claudia is arrested as being a conspirator in the plot to kill Napoleon. Desperate to save the woman he loves and his unborn child, Alexander turns to Napoleon for assistance. The real conspirators must be captured before they can strike again and will not rest with the death of Claudia. Napoleon, according to their enegmatic leader, must die. Every conspiracy is filled with intrigue and suspense as Alexander fights for the life of the woman he loves

About the Author

Elaina Monroe lives near Atlanta, Georgia with her wonderful and supportive husband and truly extraordinary twelve year old daughter. Born in Gastonia, North Carolina, Elaina is a direct descendent of the Gastons and Rankins that settled in that area. A student of both science and history, she has earned three college degrees, two of them Masters. When she is not writing, she is teaching high school, staying in touch with friends and family, and trying new recipes on unsuspecting friends and family members.
