About the Book

Decision making is the principal task of business managers, but rarely are they trained in practical decision-making techniques. The author uses real-life business situations to explain why managers make judgment errors and what simple corrective actions can be taken to improve their thinking.

Based upon research and theories in the fields of cognitive psychology and decision science, the book discusses, in a clear and easy-to-read format,

· The psychological basis of judgment errors,

· Eighteen common judgment errors and ways to avoid them,

· Seven corrective habits of thinking,

· An eight-step process for formal decision making, and

· Numerous guiding principles to use in more informal settings.

The author states that, while decision making is never easy, following the practical guidance he offers will reduce uncertainty and error.
